Lesson Learned

The Hybrid Roman Federation (HRF) is an Empire of the Mind, not a traditional Empire. The difference between the two is that the former focus on ideas, culture, and intellectual influence, rather than military force, land and gold. Although historical Empires often combined the two. The HRF represents a collection of interrelated ideas and principles, united by Governance frameworks and a real-life institution, namely the reinstated Roman Senate defending Rome’s interests. Furthermore, the HRF focuses on regional development and cooperation, balancing autonomy and decentralization with benefits of unity and cross-regional institutions, such as E-MARE, the Euro-Mediterranean Alliance of Regional Engagement. The main difference between E-MARE and the European Union is that the EU is increasingly evolving as a political union with big National implications of directed federalization processes, whereas E-MARE is limited to a Economic Union that respects economic differences of Nations and regions and supports ‘macroeconomic sovereignty’, a form of financial control bound by jurisdictions and National borders. It should be noted that in the HRF, National borders are not becoming vaguer caused by federalization of Europe, but by cross-National Realms, which may spawn across the Empire with legal support from the HRF. The Realm is a key jurisdiction because it reflects the sovereignty of a Leader, called King, and his or her divine rule.

Geopolitical blocks forming Third Europe

HRF’s vision of Third Europe, adopted and adapted from Jozef Beck, is based on at least four political blocks. In this article I will present the third block. The first block is introduced in the article Lech, Czech i Wegier. The second block is introduced in: The Roman, North Sea, and Norman-French Legacy of Britain. The geopolitical power of Block 1 is based on the confederation of three Crowns: the Polish, Bohemian, and Hungarian Realm. The geopolitical power of Block 2 is based on the leading role of France in a personal union with the Kingdom of Naples, and the renaissance of an Arthurian Britain in which Celtic legacy is reclaimed, together with the revival of Romano-British identity. Such identify politics of Arthurian Britain is based on historical justice, respecting the diverse influences in the formation of the British Nation, taking into account the ramifications of the legend of King Arthur and the struggle of ancient Britons against Saxon invaders in particular. There is no place for Pan-Germanism in the HRF as Germanic tribes are traditional, (pre-)modern, and post-modern enemies of Rome. Traditional for sacking Rome, bringing an end to the Wester Roman Empire. (Pre-)modern for corruption in the name of the Holy Roman Empire and the role of the Axis in the second world war. And Post-Modern for the dominant role of Germany in the EU. This is not arbitrary rhetoric. It is rhetoric based on divine judgement, namely the judgement of Nations and Tribes, according to the unrecorded Judgement Day of the Almighty God, which has taken place based on signs from recent events, going on for decades now. Events that indicate the End Times. As the HRF is working towards a new unifying ideology that includes notion of the Biblical End Times, it is certain that the HRF is not secular, but pro-Christian and post-Christian.

The Third Block called Byzantium Plus

The third block, the focus of this article, consists of a core formed by Greece, Romania, and Bulgaria. All three Nations have strong Byzantine heritage. They are considered as individual Realms forming a Confederation. The Leadership role is of less importance, but Greece has more cultural influence. Other regions included in block 3 are the City-State of Venice, the City-State of Genua, the historical region of Theodoro, and finally Malta. Furthermore, block 3 hosts two Empires of the Mind, namely the Byzantine Empire and the Empire of Trebizond, both complementing the HRF. As you can image, the geopolitical focus of block 3, which you may refer to as Byzantium+, is the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, and Asian borderlands. Furthermore, the Hellenic city of Alexandria is the gateway to Egypt. The power of this block is supplemented with the presence of France in the Mediterranean based on the personal union with the Kingdom of Naples. Finally, cordial relations with the Kingdom of Spain contribute to stability in the region. Spain is not officially part of any of the political blocks of Third Europe, but it can be regarded as an ally and of course has Roman legacy.

Roman Legacy of Byzantium

The Roman legacy of Block 3 is obvious through the Byzantine history of this Region. Therefore, the Roman character of the HRF strongly depends on this political block. Also, the eternal City of Trieste, the Capital of the HRF, falls into its sphere of influence. Together with the forces of Venice and Genua, both which had strong Mediterranean presence as far as the Black Sea, block 3 can be called a powerhouse contributing to the stability of Third Europe. It is also a cultural center ready for a Hellenic renaissance, expanding European influences to the East. Ultimately, Block 3 will play a crucial role in creating a bridge to India, uniting the Indo-European families of Nations. This can be achieved with an even larger Empire of the Mind, beyond traditional military force. This Empire of the Mind will match the greatness of the Hellenic Empire created by Alexander the Great. Poland and Hungary from block 1 have a stake in block 3, as well as France.

Lessons from History

Eventually, both the Western Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire fell. I will leave the analysis of the root causes to other Scholars, and plenty has been written on this topic. But it is a fact that the end of Byzantium was enabled by the loss of the final crusade in Europe at the battle of Varna in 1444, the year of point zero for historical justice, a concept used by the HRF. The plunder of Byzantium in the fourth crusade also did not help and was a big European mistake and act of betrayal. With this new opportunity of restoring Rome based on its ancient legacy, the Greeks can become Byzantines again, whilst the Latins have to organize themselves around medieval city-states. This is the best model, because the Nation of Italy has failed to restore Rome and does not play a crucial geopolitical role in the present world. This does not mean that Latins play a lesser role. On the contrary, Italians are heir to the Legacy of Rome. Only this is a modified Rome, an Empire of the Mind. Through their renewed city-states will trigger a new Renaissance and based on their eternal city of Trieste they will host the reinstated Roman Senate. This time Rome will be eternal.
