Britain had whole dynasties of French Kings. Before that it was under Viking influence and at some point in time part of the North Sea Empire, which included the Viking homeland of Norway. The Saxon invaders, founders of English Kingdoms, unified by Wessex, never really gained traction in establishing continuous rule over England, let alone Britain. Their legacy finally ended with the Norman conquest. In contrast, the legacy of Roman-Britain is stronger. The Romano-British culture raised the level of Civilization and gave rise to the Legend of King Arthur, who originally likely was a Romano-British hero. This later was transformed into a Legendary leader who united the Britons against the Saxon invaders, a popular pro-Celtic narrative also adopted by the Welsh in medieval times. So Britain has a very rich history and the importance of Saxon settlers and invaders, although shaping the root language and partly English identity, should not be overestimated. One can even assert that the current Ethno-Nationalistic sentiments in Britain are hypocritical. The Saxons were invaders themselves and other Nations and cultures unmistakenly left a footprint in the history and legacy of Britain. Above all, the Celtic people were first, and the Roman-British were the first real civilization beyond tribal politics.
The rise of Arthurian Britain
Taking the rich history of Britain into account, the goal should be to unite Britain under a new flag, not to divide the Nation. This means that the Welsh should take back their Country. Not by expelling the Saxon invaders, it is too late for that, but by taking control of cultural processes and cultural expansion. The Welsh are not extinct and can still make a comeback, aspiring to National renewal. This will limit Germanic sentiments of the modern British nation. The first step is by claiming back their ancient lands of modern day England. An assertive Wales will lead the way in a Celtic revival. This Celtic revival should also be the inspiration for Scotland to gain independence and to end the United Kingdom. Scotland is a Realm of its own. Cornwall should align itself with Wales. This is not controversial, this is Arthurian Britain. This calls for the Messianic Return of King Arthur, the savior of the Britons, not specifically of the English. With a leader like King Arthur all Britons, including Celtic populations in England of mixed heritage, would unite under a new flag and symbol, the land of bear and eagle, of Romano-British origin.
This new Arthurian Britain led by Wales and Cornwall, together with Scotland, an independent Realm, is part of the second geopolitical block in Europe based on a new proposed balance of power. The other Nations include: France, the Kingdom of Naples, the Duchy of Milan, and Norway. France is the leader of this block and has a personal union with the Kingdom of Naples. Furthermore, the Auld Alliance is restored securing Scotland’s independence. The Duchy of Milan would support France’s sphere of influence in the Mediterranean. So block 2 is based on French Legacy, but also based on the legacy of the North Sea Empire, in particular the geopolitical involvement of Norway. Another Nation with a stake in block 2 is Poland, from block 1.
BECEM Government type
Arthurian Britain has a number of options. The first option is to choose between a Monarchy, that is to say British Epistrocratic Chivalric Executive Monarchy (BECEM), after the model of Polish Crown (i.e. PECEM), or Republic, establishing the First Roman British Republic. It would be called a Roman Republic based on the Allegiance to the Hybrid Roman Federation (HRF) and as to respect the Romano-British Legacy of Britain, a Legacy of Roman rule that created the unique Romano-British culture and the Legend of King Arthur. The second option follows the decision to establish a new Monarchy and is concerned with continuing the Plantagenet line, based on Anglo-Norman tradition, installing a new dynasty based on Arthurian ideals and principles, or refining BECEM based on an Elective Monarchy. The Hybrid Roman Federation prefers BECEM, and thus a Monarchy, and is indifferent to the dynastic line and whether it should be an Elective Monarchy. Most important is allegiance to the HRF.
Historical lessons
There are important historical lessons. Most notably the invalid perception since Victorian times that the Legend of King Arthur relates to England. The Victorians generally celebrated their Germanic heritage at the expense of their Celtic roots, and transformed the Legend of King Arthur in an English version. In simple terms, King Arthur related to an English King. This myth persisted in our current era based on the popularization of the idea that the Messianic Return of King Arthur would save England or the English Monarchy. Although not discussed in mainstream media, one may regard this as false propaganda. As argued earlier, the real King Arthur is not an English invention, and, therefore, the Messianic Return of King Arthur is applicable to the Welsh version. This is not the prelude to armed conflict but a cultural revolution. A revolution that will even bypass the Ethno-Nationalist revival and far right movement in general, in these turbulent times.
Another lesson is that the proposed political union between Arthurian Britain and Royal France is complex and hard to achieve. The Plantagenets tried and eventually failed. Their greatest success was the Coronation of Henry VI as King of France, but English rule in France did not last, and political union remained elusive. The last time a politician proposed to unite the United Kingdom with France was in 1956 by French Prime Minister Guy Mollet, for various reasons, but it was rejected by the British. The Hybrid Roman Federation therefore respects both Arthurian Britain and Royal France as individual Realms, but does see a new opportunity to bind the two in a personal union. Leadership remains an open issue, but based on the design of the second political block and the central role of France, France could be regarded as the senior partner and Arthurian Britain the junior partner. However, it is also possible that both partners are considered as equal. This might depend on factors such as actual leadership and economy. A more dominant role of France can be justified based on their position in Mainland Europe, and their direct connection to the Mediterranean. France, supported by the Kingdom of Naples plays a crucial role in the success of E-MARE, the Euro-Mediterranean Alliance for Regional Engagement.
