Lesson Learned

Third Europe consists of five blocks, if you also count the hypothetical block after the potential collapse of Russia and formation of new regions instead based on historical foundations. The first three blocks are introduced in previous articles of this Third Europe articles series. Now I will introduce block number 4, concentrating on the Baltic area. Block 4 consists of a Confederation of Sweden, Finland and Denmark. Traditionally, Denmark has led a personal union between Denmark, Sweden and Norway, with Sweden occupying large parts of Finland. This union was called the Kalmar Union. In Block 4, the role of Norway is replaced by an independent Realm of Finland. I call it Realm, but it is up to the Fins to decide whether they want to be a Republic or Monarchy. Additionally, the three Baltic states are included in Block 4: Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Poland from block 1 has a Baltic stake, as well as Norway from the North Sea Empire of the Mind, from block 2.

Baltic Gateway to the Republic of Novgorod

Block 4 provides the political foundations for Northern Europe and North-Eastern Europe. It is a critical part of Third Europe as to counter Russian threat, and to provide a balance of power in Europe.  As part of Third Europe model it is influenced by the Hybrid Roman Federation (HRF), but has the autonomy to create a League of its own, for example modelled after the medieval Hanseatic League. The stronger block 4, the stronger Third Europe, and the more successful HRF. It is also the gateway to the Novgorod Republic by land and sea. Novgorod shall be reinstated beyond the Sarmatian Borderlands out of historical justice and to fill the power vacuum after the fall of Russia, that is to say, Moscow. The culture of Novgorod will traditionally include Uralic or Ugric culture, in addition to Russian. Also Poland and the Sarmatian Borderlands have a stake in the rise of Novgorod, the old Lithuanian vassal. Unlike Russia 2026 AD, Novgorod will be part of the European family, the new West created by the HRF. The three Baltic states will be under protection of the new Kalmar Union, as to deter imperialistic Russia.

The chosen Nation of Poland

The Baltic Nation of Poland will benefit from these strong northern allies. A secure Baltic Sea will enable Poland to focus on the Sarmatian Borderlands in the East, a territory traditionally associated with the successor states of Kievan Rus, but also the Duchy of Lithuania and Livonia in historical times. However, the Sarmatian Borderlands claim Sarmatian heritage and continuity from a timespan before the rise of Kievan Rus. This was in the days of the ancient Roman Empire, which incorporated Sarmatian Knights in their armies numerous of times. The reason for doing this is that the Kievan Rus did not survive Mongol invasions from the East, and did not last as long as Sarmatia, and its successor State of the Antes. Consequently, it was divided territory throughout the Middle Ages. Only the ascendancy of Moscow reunited some of their former lands, but this came at a high cost and led to historical injustice, as it involved cruel conquest and pathological expansion of the Muscovites.

The role of Lithuania and the Legacy of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth

Lithuania is the bridge between block 1 and block 4 based on the land connection with Poland. As compared to the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Lithuania is no longer in the direct sphere of influence of Poland. As Lithuania lost control over a significant part of the Sarmatian Borderlands, Poland now directly borders Belarus and Ukraine. These two Nations, both claiming the succession of Kievan Rus, are Polish rivals. It is in the interest of Third Europe that Poland wins this rivalry and expands its Realm to the East. The new Kings of Poland should be Kings of both Poland and Rus, in the tradition of Casimir the Great. This expansion should be cultural, allowing autonomous regions within the Sarmatian Borderlands to join the Polish Realm, thereby expanding Crown territory. Oppression of Rus distinct identify is no longer needed as cooperation between the three Nations should be the norm, in the spirit of ‘Trojga Narodow’. Accordingly, the Sarmatian Borderlands would become a part of the Shield of Western Civilization. This is aligned with the general Ukrainian aspiration to join the West or specifically the European Union. We offer a better alternative however, that is to say Union with Nations (the Polish, Bohemian, and Hungarian Confederation) that are more aligned culturally. By integrating the Sarmatian Borderlands with the Home Region of Poland, the region would become an economic powerhouse and powerful buffer against Russian Imperialism, before and after the fall of Russia.

Historical Lessons

Divine judgement of the Ukrainian Nation based on the historical context of the Ukrainian state and the atrocities committed by Ukrainians against ethnic Poles supports the case against self-determination of the Ukrainian people. Ukrainians should be aware of Third Europe’s conclusion that Kievan Rus was short lived and does not provide historical justice for any successor states, based on the principle of merit and evaluation of historical acts. The same applies to Belarus, which never had strong Nationalism, even now as vassal of Russia. In order to become a partner of Poland, Ukraine must change. The Polish aim is not to subjugate the Rus again, but to transform it. By linking Rus with the Polish Crown, both Nations can be united and start from zero again. But first the Ukrainians should repent, so that wounds can start to heal. And secondly, they should stop their National aspirations to join a federal European Union, which is not in the interest of Poland and Third Europe. By joining Third Europe and accepting Polish leadership again, the Polish Crown would protect the interests of all Nations located in the Sarmatian Borderlands. Sarmatism can become a force again that unites the nobles of these societies again, transforming Nation-wide mentality and Nationalistic sentiment dangerous to civil and social order. The choice is not between West and East, but more specific than that, namely between Third Europe and historical justice, and long-term conflict and rivalry.
